The Politics of Pandemics

A few months back I was interviewed by Max Fawcett from Canada’s National Observer for his podcast Maxed Out, on which he talks to people with whom he disagrees. The intro to his second episode has a moving explanation of the motivation behind the podcast.

The basis for the conversation was an article I wrote for The Hub that I hoped would make the case for at least considering the libertarian approach to a pandemic scenario, even if it’s not adopted wholesale.

The interview was a lot of fun. We did talk lots of pandemic stuff but also a bit about my own flavour of libertarianism. I wish I’d known that Matt Zwolinski’s Bleeding Heart Libertarianism was about to make a comeback so I could have pitched it when we talked about don’t-tread-on-anyone libertarianism. Maybe next time.
